Step-by-step instructions
- Ask staff to demonstrate a high-to-low cable setup with light resistance. Stand sideways with both hands on the secured handle.
- Guide the handle diagonally across the body, turning the hips and feet together through a comfortable range.
- Return slowly without jerking or forcing the lower back to twist. Repeat on the other side.
Muscles involved
Trunk and obliques.
Common mistake to avoid
Do not keep the feet fixed while forcing a large twist through the lower back.
Before adding this to a session
This guide explains one exercise; it is not a complete training plan. Ask gym staff to check unfamiliar equipment and demonstrate its safety mechanisms. Begin with a load you can move steadily, breathe throughout the movement and leave recovery time between demanding sessions for the same muscles. Stop for pain or dizziness. Seek individual advice if a medical condition or injury affects your exercise.
